Antique Afghan Caucasian Medallion Rug
A remarkable example of traditional Afghan craftsmanship, this large antique-style Caucasian medallion rug dates to the early 1960s and was hand-knotted by Afghan artisans using fine wool and natural dyes.
At the heart of the design is a commanding medallion composition surrounded by richly layered geometric and floral-inspired motifs. Deep navy and vibrant red dominate the field, while ivory, muted gold and earthy accents highlight the extraordinary level of detail throughout the rug.
The design draws inspiration from traditional Caucasian and Turkish rug aesthetics, combining bold symmetry, elaborate borders and a richly ornamented central field. Decades of age have given the colours and wool an established character that is difficult to reproduce in newly manufactured rugs.
Hand-knotted from 100% wool, the rug has a soft pile while retaining the durability expected from traditional handmade craftsmanship. Natural dyes contribute subtle variations in colour and depth, giving the surface a character that changes beautifully with its surroundings and light.
Measuring an impressive 304 x 380 cm (9’9” x 12’7”), this substantial rug is particularly suited to large living rooms, formal sitting areas, dining rooms, executive offices and other spaces requiring a genuine statement piece.
The rug has been professionally cleaned and is presented in excellent vintage condition, ready to become part of a new interior while carrying forward more than six decades of craftsmanship.

Materials + Care
Each of our rugs is handwoven from high-quality, natural wool, dyed using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. Because they are crafted by hand, every rug is unique, with slight variations that add to its authenticity and charm. To care for your rug, vacuum regularly on a gentle setting and rotate it every few months for even wear. Avoid machine washing — for spills, blot gently with a clean cloth and mild detergent. Professional cleaning is recommended for deeper care to preserve the beauty and longevity of your rug.
Shipping + Returns
We ship all orders within 4–8 business days within Australia and 7–14 business days internationally. Every rug is carefully packaged to ensure it arrives in perfect condition.
If for any reason you’d like to return or exchange your purchase, we welcome it — customers are responsible for return postage, and the rug must be sent back in its original condition. Once we’ve received and inspected the item, your refund will be processed promptly.
